What can you expect from an astrological reading?

In my opinion many people have a wrong idea what an astrological reading can provide -and what not. Magazines, movies and also other astrologers are often supporting this wrong idea.

Astrology is not fortune telling, nor can it create or manifest something that is not part of your blueprint. I am still not sure if to laugh about the weekly or yearly horoscopes in magazines, if to get angry or if to take it as “any publicity is good publicity”. That people can seriously think that a 1/12 of humanity could experience the same in a given week or year is beyond me. Also the idea that it could tell you what exactly will happen on a given day is not very realistic, even when you look in your personal transits and progressions (your personal time quality). That doesn’t mean that it cannot give you valuable advice and information about what’s to come.

Also a request like: “Can you tell me how I could get famous (or rich -or popular)” makes often no sense-unless that option is part of your blueprint, your chart. Which, let’s face it, in most cases it’s not 😉

In my opinion Astrology is one of the best devices to give you a clear picture of your personality, your potential, your challenges, and your karmic roots. And it can give you clear and detailed information about your evolutionary path.

“Astrology is humanity`s oldest and most precise mind-map…

The planets hold half the cards, you hold the rest.

Choices you make within the astrological environment determine what actually happens to you”

Astrology gives answers to questions like:

  • What do you need to focus on, what area of life is really important?
  • What is your potential?  What helps you on the way to claim it? Which "mountain should you climb" -and which should you ignore- so you don't waste your time and energy?
  • What kind of personality do you have, what needs and values are important to nurture and how can you be most comfortable in your skin?
  • How do you function in relationships, and what do you need to feel fulfilled? What type of partner suits you best, what challenges might arise, and what should you understand and embody to build healthy, happy relationships?
  • What kind of career fits you? Should you continue in the direction you are in or would you be well advised to reorient yourself?
  • What about finances and possessions? Are they specifically important for you? Is that area of life easy or difficult for you to handle and what would help?
  • What soul lessons have you carried into this life — patterns, themes, or unresolved experiences that your soul is here to understand, transform, or complete?
  • What shaped me in my early years — my childhood experiences, family dynamics, and upbringing — and how do these roots still influence who I am today?

How can astrology support you?

First, astrology cannot create anything that is not in accordance with your chart. That means certain limitations are automatically included. For example, if you are not meant to be a famous musician or actor, then astrology cannot change that. Or if you are a very introverted and security oriented person it will not transform you into somebody that is extroverted and loves to be in the center of attention. But it can show you how to make the best out of what you have been given and how to fulfil your potential- and in the end that’s what will make you happy and content. The thing is that it is up to you what you make out of your possibilities. And it definitely helps to know what these possibilities are.

For me personally, for example, it was so helpful to understand my Venus in the 3rd house in Aquarius. Venus in general says something about what you need in relating, how you express yourself with the other. It shows your style in relating, what you find beautiful, what attracts you, what you like and whom .If you are a man it says something about what kind of woman you find attractive.

Now, for example, Venus in Aquarius needs a lot of freedom, likes to experiment and is open minded when it comes to different forms of relating. For me that meant I needed (and need) a lot of freedom in relationships. I am very independent and need a partner that likes that-or can at least accept it. I was also in “unusual” relationships-and enjoy them-relationships which for somebody who needs more security and commitment would not have been possible. And that’s neither good nor bad, everybody has different needs. But it really helps to know it. It avoids a lot of unnecessary drama and pain, as you make different choices. In my example, if I would meet somebody that I find attractive and interesting- and I see that this person would want to be together 24/7, would have problems with me to go to travel by myself for 3 months or is not very socially aware (all important for my 3rd house Aquarius Venus)- I know this would not work. Not that id didn’t try this in my past, J…

Now I would not do that anymore, the price to choose somebody not fitting to you is pretty high in terms of emotional pain, endless conflict, drama, discontent and suffering.

You get to understand yourself more...

It’s easy to say — but it can change everything.
Once you clearly recognize your calling, your unique gifts, what truly nourishes you (and what doesn’t), and the kind of people who genuinely suit you, something powerful begins to shift. You can no longer ignore what you now see.

It becomes increasingly difficult to stay in a draining office job under a controlling boss once you realize that your soul is calling you toward the courage of self-employment.
It feels deeply unfulfilling to remain in a relationship with someone who avoids commitment when what your heart truly longs for is depth, intimacy, and building a family — the next step in your personal evolution.

Astrology can shed light on your karmic path — what you’ve brought into this life, so to speak.
It reveals where your healing lies, what your soul is growing toward, and what steps support your personal and spiritual evolution. You gain insight into how to unlock your potential, heal old wounds, embody your talents, and navigate your challenges with greater clarity.

An astrological consultation helps you understand your unique nature — your gifts, resources, and timing. It guides you in how to nurture what’s truly yours and take aligned action when the moment is right.
In short: it shows you the path to a life that truly fits you.

It’s important to understand that for an astrological consultation to truly resonate, you must be ready to embrace transformation.
This process might require you to make tough decisions, take bold actions, and venture down new paths. You may need to confront and release unhealthy habits or limiting beliefs that no longer serve your authentic self.
Healing childhood or even karmic wounds could become necessary to fully step into your potential — otherwise, they might hold you back from living the life you're meant to live.
Sometimes, this journey requires seeking professional help and allowing yourself to be supported in the process.

All of this demands courage and a willingness to grow.

How did astrology change my life?

Personally, astrology, which I am working with for almost 40 years, has helped me to make good private and professional decisions. It showed me my next steps, important lessons to learn and how to make the best of the time quality of the moment. It was for example really helpful to know that at a certain  moment in time the course of action might be no action, that it’s a time of withdrawing, of being still, of vision quest, of waiting patiently for spring to come. Or at another moment, that this time asks you to make bold changes, to stand up for who you are and what you want, to take risks and make no more foul compromises. Often astrology confirmed how I felt inside, but didn’t completely trust until then. When you are asked to be still and withdraw the mind easily tells you that you are lazy, or a coward or that you are not acting responsibly. Our culture has not much appreciation for non doing, for silence, for retreating and being alone. The idea is often the more you do the better. And if you follow that idea of doing a lot in a time that asks you something different, you encounter often a lot of obstacles and problems.

So astrology gave me permission to trust my intuition and also gave me advice when I could not hear the voice of my intuition.

It helped me to understand my nature, and how to express myself in the most harmonious- and fun- way.

To give you a little example: I have a lot of fire in my chart. Fire is action oriented, extrovert, it is warm, it laughs easily, is fast by nature and has an innate feeling for the meaning of happenings. It also can take a lot of space, be loud and can be self centred. So I had my share of people telling me that I am too loud, that my laughter is too loud and that they find it disturbing. And I had people telling me that they love my loud laughter, which they can hear from afar and it makes them smile. When I was young I tried to be quieter, to not take a lot of space, to please people. The more I understood about the fire element, the more I could see that on one hand this is just how I am –and some people will love it, and some not. And I love to laugh loudly; it just comes out of me like that. At the same time it made me aware that sometimes I need to make more space for others that are quieter, to be more sensitive, slower and more on the receptive side. Thank god I also have Neptune, a watery and very sensitive, empathic and compassionate planet, right on the ascendant. That made it a bit easierJ. All in all it was definitely an important insight that has changed my way of relating and expressing myself.

An important gift that astrology gave me was and is to understand and accept the people close to me. To be able, even when my way of perceiving things is different, to accept and acknowledge the perceptions, needs and values of my beloved, my family, and my friends. To see that their way of showing love might be different but not less or more. Their truth is for them as true as mine for me-and that’s something that is easy to forget when you are upset or hurt. And let’s face it, in close and intimate connections you will feel upset, not respected, misunderstood or not appreciated at times. To see the situation through the eyes of the other did provide me often with the realisation that their behaviour is not meant to be hurtful. They only acted from different perceptions and ways of seeing reality, from different values, different needs, and different ways of expressing themselves.

A good example for me was when I was in the middle of my 20ties I played a little astrological game with a friend: We put out the astrological circle of planetary and zodiac sign cards as you do in a astrological constellation session ( link to astrological constellation session) and both sat simultaneously in each other’s moon. So she sat in my Leo Moon and I sat in her Cancer Moon. Now, I have no Cancer planets in my chart, so Cancer as an Archetype was always a bit abstract for me. I could tell you the right definitions for Cancer archetype but didn`t really know how that would FEEL. While I was sitting in the circle with my friend I became aware of a feeling of sensitivity and vulnerability. I looked at my friend and I wanted to be there for her, as I assumed she would feel the same sensitivity and vulnerability. To make it short: suddenly there was way more “feeling” in my perception than usual. The funny thing is that she (sitting in my Leo Moon)felt more confident than usual, she was louder and laughed more -and I felt her a bit “ too loud “ sometimes – which was exactly how she sometimes experienced me. I was more quiet and introverted than usual, and she was more extroverted. This is how astrological constellation works- you “become” the planet/ the sign you are sitting in. Similar than family constellation sessions work. It’s a bit like plugging into a certain energy field. This was an “AHA” moment. I learned something about me and simultaneously something about Moon in Cancer. If I would have sat in somebody’s Aries Moon I would have probably experienced somebody sitting in my Leo Moon as enlivening, fun and stimulating. But a Cancer Moon has different needs, and it very interesting to feel them instead of just knowing them. I was more conscious afterwards when I met my Cancer Moon friend,as I knew now more about how she felt and what she needed.

And of course there is much more, some of it I will share with you in upcoming blogs.

What can you expect from a reading in terms of predictions?

Let’s start with the “bad news”:

If you're hoping astrology can give you a precise timeline for when your soul mate will enter your life or when your dream job will come along, astrology might not be the right tool for that.

However, astrology can provide very valuable insights, such as:  "Next year, you'll experience a deep transformation in how you relate to others. This could involve meeting someone new or facing a pivotal shift in your current relationship. Where you end up — who you become and who you’re with — depends on the choices you make during this period and, of course, on the influence of destiny.”

Or, it might tell you:  “In the coming months, focus all your energy on your career. Opportunities are likely to present themselves, but if you don’t act, they’ll pass by. You have the chance to make significant strides in your professional life, but only if you step up, give your best, and stay focused.”

Astrology doesn’t predict the exact event that will occur next month or next year, most of the time different options are possible. It gives you a sense of the quality of the time ahead, which areas of your life will be affected by planetary influences, and how to best navigate those energies. It shows you what questions life will present — and how to respond to them. Whether or not you follow this guidance is entirely up to you.

For example, a strong Uranus to Venus transit might say:

“It’s time to embrace your true self in relationships and friendships. Stand up for who you are, express your needs, and claim your authenticity. You might have to stop with that compromise that makes you feel like being in a cage.t’s a time for new choices, whether it’s having a heart-to-heart conversation with your partner or making the bold decision to end a friendship that no longer serves you.”

This could lead to a reinvigorated relationship, where you feel more aligned with your partner, or it might result in the end of a connection that has been built on compromises. If you choose to take action, you will feel liberated and proud of standing up for yourself. But if you hesitate or resist the change, you miss out on a meaningful opportunity and stay trapped in an old version of you- and your relationship start to feel more and more suffocating and dead.

Sometimes, external circumstances align with the transit’s energy. For instance, during a Uranus transit, your partner may leave you or something may happen that triggers a deep transformation in your relationship. That could force you to confront the need for change — either by letting go or working through the issues together. This can lead to a fresh start, both of you more in tune with your true selves and reconnecting in a deeper, more authentic way.

“It`s up to you in the end”

I’ve seen people give powerful, heartfelt answers to the questions the planets asked them. They faced their situations with courage, openness, love and acceptance – and were rewarded with more well-being, deeper self-love, fulfilling relationships or a job that truly suits them. And I’ve also seen people who gave a poor answer – just trying to survive the challenge in front of them, hoping it will all pass soon – and in doing so, they missed out on a real chance to evolve, to shape a better life, to fall in love with themselves.

Sometimes life “helps” you by making the change for you. You get fired from the job you secretly hate. Your lease isn’t renewed and you’re forced to move – and it turns out to be a blessing. Or you get sick, and that pause gives you the space to look at your life more clearly and make important choices. These moments can be painful or uncomfortable at first, but with time you often see: this was the best thing that could have happened. A deep transformation took place – and you landed in a much better place, both inside and out.

The real difficulty arises when life is clearly asking you to take a step, to make a decision, to change something – and you don’t dare to do it. You stay in the old situation, which increasingly feels heavy, wrong, and disconnected. You feel stuck, frustrated, maybe even depressed. That’s a high price to pay. Of course, life gives you another chance – sooner or later, a new transit or progression touches the same topic or area of life. But that doesn’t mean it gets easier. Often, it gets harder.

That’s why it’s so valuable to face the challenge when it arises. To understand what exactly the next step is, what’s really at stake – and to respond in the best possible way. Astrology can be a powerful support here.

Someone once said that astrology helps us come into active alignment with divine timing – and I think that’s beautifully said.

And that can mean very different things, depending on which planet is involved. In Neptune times, for example, you may be called to become still, to wait, to not act but rather to feel and listen. In Uranus times, life wants you to break free, express your truth, take bold steps – even if others don’t understand. During Saturn times, it’s about taking responsibility, defining what you want to build, committing to something long-term. That can feel like a reality check – but it’s also deeply rewarding if you engage with it.

Each planet has its own question for you, its own dynamic and challenge – and its own invitation for growth.

How can a transits and progressions reading support you in the next 12 months?

Astrology can tell you what questions life will ask you.
It can show you what the upcoming year will be about, which areas of your life will be most affected, and how to best navigate this time.

And astrology can also show you the reward that’s waiting for you — if you rise to the challenge and meet it with awareness.

It provides insight into your next evolutionary steps, along with practical advice on how to move through the process. You’ll also receive background information to understand the root of the issue.

Astrology also gives you a sense of timing — when this process begins, when it peaks, and when it completes — so you can move with the rhythm of time instead of against it.
